Gold Fields' Tarkwa & Damang Mines ranked number 2 and 12 at the Ghana Club 100 Awards

Gold Fields Ghana Limited (Tarkwa Mine) was ranked number 2 in Ghana and within the extractive industry while Abosso Goldfields Limited (Damang Mine) was ranked 12 at the prestigious Ghana Club 100 Awards (GC100).

This remarkable achievement is further bolstered by the company's recognition as the 1st runner up for the Best CSR Company and 2nd ranked Company in the Extractive (petroleum and mining) sector.

These achievements underline Gold Fields' unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable practices, showcasing the positive impact the company has on both its host communities and the country.

Gold Fields is focused on delivering high-impact legacy projects and initiatives for host communities in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, water and sanitation, as well as enterprise development, through the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation.

To date, over US$100.4 million has been invested in development projects and programmes in the Tarkwa and Damang host communities.

The Vice President and Interim Managing Director of Gold Fields Ghana, Mr Elliot Twum, says the awards are a testament to the dedication, hard work and commitment of the entire Gold Fields team who strive for excellence in every aspect of their operations.

"We are incredibly honoured to receive these awards, which recognise the significant efforts our team has put into ensuring that we operate sustainably and responsibly. Our ranking in the Ghana Club 100 Awards reflects our commitment to excellence and the positive impact we are making in our host communities," he said.

"The recognition as the 1st runner up for the Best CSR Company is particularly meaningful to us. It validates our ongoing efforts to invest in community development and support initiatives that drive sustainable growth.

We believe that our success as a company is intertwined with the wellbeing of the communities we operate in, and we will continue to prioritise their development," Mr Twum added.

Organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, GC100 recognises and celebrates the top 100 companies in the country for their business excellence, innovation, outstanding contributions to national development, as well as corporate social responsibility. The 21st edition of the awards ceremony was held on Friday, 25 October 2024 in Accra.
