As part of activities to mark International Women's Day, female colleagues of Gold Fields' Tarkwa and Damang mines visited Tarkwa Senior High School to connect with students and inspire the next generation.
Led by Dr. Catherine Kuupol Kuutor, Manager of the Tarkwa Mine, the team engaged the enthusiastic students in discussions on their studies, future career aspirations and adolescent health, fostering meaningful conversations about their personal growth and development.
Reflecting on the significance of the day, Dr. Kuupol Kuutor stated, "Empowering our young people with knowledge and mentorship is essential for shaping their futures. It is an honour to celebrate International Women's Day by investing time in the leaders of tomorrow."
The celebration extended beyond the school visit, as the team partnered with the Tarkwa Blood Bank to organise a voluntary blood donation drive to support expectant mothers in the community who may face complications requiring blood transfusions.
Special acknowledgment was given to the students of Tarkwa Senior High School, who showed exceptional selflessness by standing in long queues to donate blood.
"We are deeply grateful to the headmistress and teachers of Tarkwa Senior High School for encouraging their students to participate in this life-saving initiative," Dr. Kuupol Kuutor added.
The initiative aligns with the company's commitment to community development and health, highlighting the transformative impact of collaborative efforts.
