Gold Fields Ghana and Pepsodent Team Up to Provide Free Dental Care

Friday, 28 March 2025

The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, in collaboration with Unilever Ghana Limited (Pepsodent), marked World Oral Health Day by educating close to 1,900 children and community members on the importance of oral care.

Under the theme "A happy mouth is a happy mind," pupils from Nana Amoakwa Model School, Damang Roman Catholic School and Damang Municipal Assembly Basic School were educated on maintaining oral hygiene.

They were encouraged to adopt practices such as brushing twice daily, flossing and scheduling regular visits to the dentist. The children and community members also received free oral screening, basic dental treatments and oral hygiene kits at the event.

Highlighting the need for early education, health professionals emphasised that poor oral hygiene can lead to serious health complications. The initiative aimed to ensure that children adopt good oral practices early in life.

The Foundation actively supports global health campaigns, often collaborating with other stakeholders to raise awareness. The annual celebration of World Oral Health Day, held globally on 20 March, reinforces the significance of oral health as a key aspect of overall wellbeing.
